PICASSO, Pablo

  • Seated woman reading (1935); in first edition collotype, published for the Silvana D’Art, Milan, 1957.

Description

  • Near fine or better collotype from the distinguished Italian suite, known for the high quality of their production technique. A very good impression; without any spotting or toning to paper or any colour loss.
  • This is a work from a pivotal time in Picasso's artistic experiments. He had formulated new ways of representing the human body, here accentuating disproportion of limbs thus giving new life and motion to shape. This is in some way used in his future works to model both the female body and the space it inhabits.
  • Framed, mounted and glazed.
  • Image, 28.6x23.5cm.
  • External, 47.2x38.0cm.
